Eurofinn Marine Oy Ltd was founded in 1997 to construct high quality family sailboats with racing capability.
Eurofinn Marine Oy Ltd was founded in Karjalohja in western Uusimaa on 1 October 1997. The founders were Reijo Pöllänen and Taina Lackman. Reijo pöllänen is the chairman of the board and Taina Lackman acts as the Managing Director. The principal goal of the company is the design, manufacture and marketing of a 34 foot sailboat. In addition, the company carries out occasional repair and maintenance work, and some fibreglass work on special order. The staff comprises seven workers.
Unofficial history
It all really began when a little rascal of a boy called Reijo was born into a boat-building family in Uukuniemi. Reijo acquired the trade of carpenter in Savonlinna and moved to Lohja to work there. In Lohja, boats were made of fibreglass and his expertise increased. In 1986, Reijo was sufficiently experienced to join forces with a partner and found a company manufacturing sailboats in Siuntio. The company expanded, the premises became crowded and the company moved to Karjalohja, eventually to be joined by Reijo. In Karjalohja the boat-builder wanted to develop something new, something of high quality, to respond to the needs of customers. Along the way, Reijo had also met Taina, whose education and other skills alleged certain expertise in the field of business. By autumn 1997 the idea had matured into a decision to co-found, with his present business partner Taina, their own company EFM for purposes of product development and later, production. scratch” once again. Boat-building requires sizeable capital investments and unsurprisingly, our entrepreneurs did not have the resources. The question of acquiring financiers was tackled with endurance and perseverance, without ever forgetting the aim of producing their own product, a 30-foot family sailboat with aptitude for racing.

Once the capital was obtained the operations commenced. The early run was turbulent. The operations were suspended for a year due to an unexpected increase of the cost estimate. The idea matured and in autumn 1998 the time was ripe. Operations were launched. The designer had been chosen, the tiny shop was almost ready and the financier, who had already once backed off, reminded them that it was time to begin and was ready to bankroll them. Furthermore, the first boat already had a buyer! Midnight oil was burned in the long sessions with the designer. Numerous sailing enthusiasts and other interested parties offered their help. The result was the drawing of initial lines of EF34, which were turned into a new product with the aid of determination and technology.
